    Design and preparation of low-density foams from bio-based polymers such as chitosan and lignins. Characterization of their properties with focus on assessing suitability to thermal insulation applications. Receiving training for the characterization methods such as thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) and zeta-potential, among others. The preparation of the light-weight foams will involve systematic work, altering different parameters, one at the time, such as raw material types, mass ratios, pH and charge densities.
    Fluent English, both spoken and written (C1 certificate is desired, B2 compulsory). Bachelor Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. Experimental experience on the synthesis of materials. Master's Degree in Chemistry would be acknowledged.
    Prior research experience in the field of chemistry/materials science/electrochemical energy storage would be an asset.
